London, ON – April 18, 2012 – London game publisher Wiggles 3D continues to expand with the launch of a new, bee-themed game app this week-amid a hive of other activity at this 10-year old business.
The new app, called Paper Bees, is now available on the App Store and through iTunes. This continues the company’s new development thrust into the digital realm. Wiggles 3D released a digital app for the game brand Eye Know, a licensed property, last fall and a scoring app for its Ding! card game earlier this year.
Paper Bees app is a playful action game that presents players with 30 different game levels. Players are asked to help bees defend their flowers and hive against a stream of unwelcome pests, including stink bugs, mosquitoes and exploding beetles. Levels move through a meadow, a swamp and a winter landscape. The game is designed for the iPad and 4th Generation iPhones, with players flinging bees by swiping their fingers across their touchscreens. The bees’ allies show up to give them extra powers, including flames and ice crystals. The game sells for $1.99. It is rated for players age 4 and up and was designed to have a broad appeal with all ages.
The launch of Paper Bees is just part of the current activity at Wiggles 3D. It launched four new games at Toy Fair in New York this past February. The new games are Finger Tips, a matching card game and the company’s first game for preschoolers; Randomonium, a word-based party game; Space Checkers, an alien-themed strategy game; and Army vs. Aliens, a fast-paced dice game. The games are being sold internationally.
These product launches follow on the back of a December 2011 transaction with Mattel. Mattel, the world’s largest game company, has purchased Wiggle 3D’s Pass the Popcorn brand. The popular movie game, which is sold in over 6,000 stores internationally, was developed by Wiggles 3D and has been an important part of the product lineup since the fall of 2009. Mattel took over the brand on March 31, 2012.
